A Tektite is formed when a meteor falls to Earth. Upon impact, enormous pressures and temperatures combine with and melt material from the surface of the Earth and throw it high into the sky. As the molten material falls back to Earth, it cools and solidifies into a glassy rock known as a Tektite.
